There she is on the shelf, the brightest of them all. My heart skips a beat and I’m overwhelmed with excitement, it’s been two whole long months since I’ve purchased my ‘‘second bible’’ and living in a town that doesn’t stock such addictive substance leaves me -the addict of 8years- shivering in pain, singing khumbaya.

I haven’t even paid for her but unfortunately, like any other addict, this can’t wait…I NEED my fix and NOW!
I rip the plastic cover off and gently rub my hand on the colourful gloss. The words ‘OUR FEARLESS ISSUE’ greet my eyes first and I stand, slightly nodding my head as a sign of acknowledgement to the ELLE team, this truly is for the fearless.My mother turns to me, not even puzzled at my actions and shouts from around the vegie corner of Pick ’N Pay, “Who’s paying for that?”. My mother is conscious of my love for fashion and magazine addiction! So, made it very clear that she will not be supporting any of my expensive habits.

I have this laugh of pleasure and thought of unfinished dreams every month when I think of how I still erase the letter J on Jackie’s name (the Editor of Elle) on all her Ed letters, so to only have it read my name. These are my sinful ways and ironically my steps of faith. March issue, my birth month, it’s a powerful issue graced by a deceivingly innocent looking Lady Gaga! There is something special about that first intimate moment I have with a new magazine as I take away its virginity, parting the cover from the first page and finding pleasure in that fresh crisp sound that she makes, passively letting me in to enjoy her whenever I want to as I indulge without shame. I’m not to be fooled though and neither should you, because that passiveness she has as she lets you in to take control is nothing like her inside. Though her outer appearance prepares you for her inside story, you can’t help but feel or know she has more to offer you inside; especially if you’ve been with her one, too many times, hence…”THE WORLD’S BIGGEST SELLING FASHIOIN MAGAZINE”.
