Getting started in an industry

"People who want to get started in fashion writing always ask how do I start, I ask them well what magazines do you read? That’s why I was attracted to Vogue, because I enjoyed reading it.
It’s important to think about what appeals to you, what you enjoy and love and then how can you get into the industry. It’s so important to feel that this is a place you’d want to work. Make a list of the places that you want to work, so you start in your own world."

This is a small piece from an interview by Garance Dore, interviewing [American] Vogue's fashion writer Chioma Nnadi. Her interview is quiet the inspiring read and got me really thinking about the intricate or elaborate details that are entailed in the career paths I am working towards.
There are moments that I anticipate that which is quiet frankly nothing less to a miracle and abundance of hard work. Constantly I am entertaining ideas and images that whet my appitite, more so on my blog than anywhere else. This interview got me researching a few inside stories of the industry, getting to know how others made it and still push in it. Fashion is'nt all glamour and that I have, and am still learning through daily college life as a fashion student. It's stressfull, it's work, it's thinking creatively, it's being a step ahead, it's constant updating and growth in vision...gosh it's so much more! Hence i constantly ask myself am I ready for this so much? Truth is I don't know if I am ready right now but I am positive that this is what appeals to me and what I effortlessly find pleassure in doing...building a career and businesses under this vast fashion umberella remains the gist of it all. God continues in being my strength to do all things and in taking Chioma's advise; I am making a list of those places I want to work at to help me advance in experience so to help me move into the businesses I have in heart.
