Treading around current trends

Over the years trends have become a wider spectrum, in a sense that we no longer experience one or two styles per season but rather, now, a range of different 'in style' items all being introduced at once and then revamped for the next season thus becoming that particular seasons trend. Even with this list of many 'must haves' that we now encounter in one season, fashion experts still anchor us with one trend that will dominate the rest; for example, on looking back to spring/summer 2011, we saw that the Tribal print was the dominating print amongst the floral and animal prints. And by the time we hit 2012, the flower bloomed with power and became the center of attention.

Trends are clearly evolving with the years as oppose to being in-and-out of season like they use to - I somewhat thank the concept of recycling for that. Letterman cardies and cool knits, varsity jackets with luxe updates, iced-out monograms, and deconstructed plaids now become the new rules to being preppy, still an innovative idea carefully recycled from the old school common  prep. When an item of clothing undergoes that stage of metamorphosis -to suit the upcoming season- stylists and designers tend to work on introducing either a different length to last seasons items or change fabric, colour, advance the pattern or add a bit of something "new" to it. As delicate and effortful as it is to create inexperienced and distinct trend, it is ironically also as simple as thoughtfully taking out something from a garment or bringing it in in an awakening way, for example; the floral print (a deathless favorite) now finds a romantic resurrection on the spring runways for 2013. In fashion every minor change makes a style totally altered or contradistinctive to last seasons item.

In as much as the runways have and are still calling the shots on trends, one cannot for a second be apprehensive of the fact that many of our current trend are actually treading the streets and modeled by the likes of you and I. The daily street roamers who go on and about their daily business. These are the bold trend setters to keep a vivid eye on if you are a stylist, trend forecaster or designer. The streets have no rules, they simple are what they are and thus deliberately allow clothing to be that full outward expression of their personalities without a shame. That is why over the years we have chosen to seek original stimulation from the streets and their sub-cultures.

The beauty that surrounds International Fashion Weeks is just unfathomable, hence I have chosen to say, "The show begins outside"...When the bloggers, journalists, editors, celebrities and all other fashionistas make their entrance to the show. It already is show time. I have never been to Fashion Week but I always promise myself that one day I will afford a ticket to New York or Paris just to watch the gathering of undisputed sumptuous style from outside the events. That would be enough till I earn a front row name tagged seat.

Trends are on going and forever changing. Embrace them with your own flair to create what everyone is looking out for...that authentic look that later manifests into a seasonal trends on the catwalks. Who knows what trend you can start through being originally you.

Below I have uploaded images of what the perennial floral print has revived into for 2013 S/S.
