A Family of Force: Nike Lunar Force 1's

In 1982 – 30 years ago Nike launched their iconic best sellers Air Force one's. Created by designer Bruce Kilgore, the identifying characteristic of an Air Force 1 shoe is a small medallion (called a deubré) that is secured to the bottom of the laces. The medallion is engraved with the inscription "AF-1", with the year "'82" inscribed below it, and has historically been made out of a silver-colored metal, Its original design was more circular, but after a redesign for the Air Force 1's 25th anniversary in 2007 the medallion is now rectangular.

From Air to Lunar; celebrating years of Air attitude and innovation the new Lunar shoe is constructed with a ventilated hyper-fuse upper accompanied by a Lunarlon sole. Debuted in the white-on-white colourway, “white Cinderella slippers for the hood ” was how they were described in the fascinating film on the original sneakers, which earn the company an estimated $500 million a year with no need for new development or marketing. WOW. A real homage to the space age qualities of this hybrid shoe, but with that being said, there was a lot of back and forth about whether or not people liked the shoe, and whether they preferred the original, making for some interesting conversation for the real minions. I'm curious to see if this sneaker will make street fashion waves like the Nike Run +3 shoe that's a favourite amongst the the international fashion savvies.
